REDEYE
This is my first Blog entry. Today I'd like to talk about RedEye. We've all seen it. I get pictures from people all the time with RedEye in them. I have a friend who sent out birth announcements with one of the worst case of RedEyes I've ever seen. My brother sent out Christmas card/pictures where everyone had it.

Now I realize, as a parent, it's hard to see any flaws in the pictures of your kids. I remember when I went to the Pediatrician for my child's 2 week checkup. The Dr. said, "don't worry about that red blotchy skin, it'll go away soon". I remember sitting there smiling, thinking "what red blotchy skin?"

RedEye occurs when the pupils are dilated due to a dark environment such as indoors or at night. The bright light of the flash reflects off your eye and causes a red spot right in the middle.

Most cameras these days have a setting for RedEye. What it does is sends out a pre-flash that causes your pupil to contract which reduces the possibility of RedEye. USE IT!!!

If you forgot to set it, there is still hope. Many photo programs have an easy method to reduce RedEye. You could also search for RedEye at downloads.com and download a simple program to fix RedEye. And if you don't want to bother with it yourself, many places that develop photos offer a service to fix RedEye.

Just remember, when you're taking pictures of your loved ones, your preconception of what they look like may blind you when it comes time to select an important photo to send out. You may be able to overlook those red devil eyes, but will everyone who receives your picture be able to?
